What We Believe

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the only written word of God, and each and every word of the original text in its original language is inspired. As such, it is the sole authority for faith and practice.

God

We believe there is one God who eternally exists in three co-equal and fully divine persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Story of Redemption

God created man in his own image and placed him in a perfect garden. Man rebelled against his Creator, plunging mankind into sin and defiling the creation he was meant to steward. A sentence of spiritual and physical death resulting in eternal judgment was issued, and all men live under that curse as sinners from birth. With the curse, a promise of mercy was given in the form of a Son who would come and reverse the effects of sin.

This Son came in the form of Jesus Christ, God himself taking on true, sinless humanity as the second Adam. He demonstrated his deity through words and miracles, proclaimed the coming of the Kingdom of God, died a substitutionary death, rose again, and now intercedes for believers before the Father. One day he will physically return to complete the reversal of sin, reveal a New Heaven and New Earth, and to rule and reign with those who come to him in faith for eternity.

Salvation

We believe that all men are born in a state of sin and rebellion against God, and that salvation from sin comes only the grace of God, through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross alone. We can add nothing to this grace by our own efforts, and once saved we can do nothing to lose that salvation.

The Church

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, continuing his work of proclaiming the Kingdom of God until his return. It consists only of those who have truly been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and profess faith in Christ alone. Its members have been given gifts needed to build up that body and continue the work of the Gospel through the Holy Spirit. The two ordinances given to the Church include the observance of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism as a public testimony of one’s salvation through faith.
